Of Interest Last September a new innovative project was initiated in our organization. This project lasted 8 consecutive Saturdays. It is known as "The Early Intervention Support Group Project for Patients and Family Members". This means those patients that are in the first stage of the disease. It was initiated by our 2nd Vice-President Ms. Lilliam Valcárcel and the collaboration of one volunteer member of our Association; Ms. Maritza Lamoso who is a student of Gerontology in Spain. In addition, there was the collaboration on the part of Dr. Carmen Rodríguez. The meetings were held every Saturday from 1:30pm - 3:30pm in the Veterans Hospital Facility in San Juan. These patients, caregivers and family members participated in various activities which were recreational as well as educational. We hope to begin a new group for January 2001. For more information, please communicate with our office at (787) 727-4151 or E-Mail at alzheimerpr@alzheimerpr.org. We ask that anyone who cares for or knows anyone with Alzheimer's Disease, to form part of our Association through our annual membership of $20.00 and will receive and participate in the activities we offer. We are the source of information for Alzheimer's Disease for all health care and related professionals.
